Link of the day: MindJet Connect

Hurray!  MindJet has made a free, cloud-based version of its mindmapping tool available and it’s lovely to use.  It’s now a much better alternative to FreeMind (sorry guys), and being browser-based, avoids any corporate IT restrictions on installing software.

I’d previously used their desktop software, MindManager.  I’m pleased to report that MindJet Connect looks just as polished and helpfully uses the same keyboard shortcuts as the desktop app, plus it still allows export to file, both in proprietary format (.mmap) and FreeMind’s format.

Native support for iOS is also available, though I’ve not had the opportunity to test that out yet.

On a related note, a couple of weeks ago, my copy of Thinking Space on Android upgraded itself to MindJet (presumably following acquisition), and the new, free Android app is a definite improvement.
